Grandma Tiny's Tea Ring

This has been in the family for at least 40 years I'm aware of. I got this from my mother, Adrienne Yetter, who gave it to me.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Mix water, sugar, salt.
  2. Stir in yeast until dissolved.
  3. Add eggs, shortening, mace, and rind.
  4. Add flour, stirring with a spoon, then by hand.
  5. Use Rolling pin to roll dough into desired shape, about 16 inches by 16 inches square
  6. Roll up, put in plastic bag, and place in refrigerator overnight
  7. Take out, unroll
  8. Butter inside, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, & raisins
  9. Roll up, and on one side, slice 3/4 of the way through, every 3/4 inch
  10. Gently bring the two ends of the roll together, making a ring, with the slices toward the outside
  11. Take the slices, and rotate them all the same way about 75 degrees. This will display the roll
  12. Bake in 400 degree F over, for 12-15 minutes
  13. Drizzle with powder-sugar frosting
  14. Slice the rest of the way through to serve

Makes one ring

Dough will keep in refrigerator about 5 days
